This page serves as an explaination of our terms of sale and guiding principles. By expressing interest in our goats and subsequently signing a contract and/or paying a deposit, you acknowledge that you’ve read and understood the terms outlined here, and you agree to proceed with the purchase under these conditions
- We reserve the right to retain any animal born on our farm at our discretion. Additionally, we maintain the authority to cancel a sale at any point in time.
- We are happy to work with reliable transport companies to ensure smooth delivery, and if needed, we can provide contact information for trusted transport partners we've worked with in the past.
- We retain the authority to decline the services of specific transport companies and transportation methods. We do not allow any goats to be transported in wire kennels in the back of uncovered pick ups unless they're going 30 minutes or less away. Please make sure any kennel or transport method is safe and secure.
- Goats are herd animals- we do NOT allow kids to go to homes as singles UNLESS you provide proof that you have other kids around the same age. We do offer discounts if you take pairs.
- All doe kids remain at the farm until they are fully weaned. We will offer bottle-raised bucklings or wethers for sale on a case by case basis. If you have purchased a bottle buckling/wether, you must pick them up by 4 weeks of age. Doelings will be weaned between 10-12 weeks of age.
- In the case of out-of-state travel, the buyer is responsible for arranging all necessary health paperwork, and any associated fees are the buyer's responsibility. We are happy to aid in locating a local veterinarian if needed.
- We assure the health of the kid/adult animal at the time of pickup ONLY. We strongly recommend the buyer conduct a thorough examination before the animal departs to ensure nothing is overlooked. Once the animal has left our property with the new owner, we do not guarantee its health, except in the case of genetic anomalies that may have been overlooked or came up due to maturity*. Illnesses such as Coccidia, Worms, and Pneumonia can potentially occur due to the stress of transportation. We advise obtaining a fecal examination a few days after the move as a precautionary measure.
- Prospective buyers are welcomed to arrange a veterinary examination for any animal they are considering purchasing. A deposit is required to reserve the available animal until a veterinary evaluation can be conducted. In the event that the animal does not pass the veterinary evaluation, your deposit may be applied towards the purchase of another animal. The buyer is solely responsible for covering all fees associated with veterinary evaluation or testing.
- Deposits placed are considered non-refundable. In the event of a buyer's decision to withdraw from a sale, deposits are transferable to another goat should the buyer opt for an alternative selection. In the unfortunate event of the reserved animal's passing or Salt River Run decides to cancel the sale, the deposit may be applied toward the purchase of another available animal or will be refunded.
-
For individuals under the age of 18, purchasing from us requires parental or guardian consent and oversight. While we welcome customers of all ages, if you are a minor interested in acquiring our animals, it is necessary for your parents or guardians to contact us directly to progress with the purchasing process. To finalize the sale, the signature of the parent or guardian, alongside the name of the minor for whom they are signing, is mandatory on our sales contract.
- Salt River Run respectfully requests a First Right of Refusal for any animals sold under our herd name. Though not obligatory, we consider this a courtesy that we value, should we entertain the possibility of reacquiring a previously sold animal.
Kids:
- We will give preference to performance herds and returning customers for all ADGA registered kids.
- All kids will undergo disbudding (if not naturally polled), regular hoof trims, and will be up-to-date on CD&T vaccinations before departure from our premises. Kids ADGA registered will be tattoo'd at the time of disbudding.
- ADGA registered kids will come with a Bill of Sale and either physical registration papers, or will be transferred online to your cart using NG. The buyer is responsible for any and all fees when it comes to registering your kid. If the buyer does not have an active ADGA membership, we will provide a paper ADGA application, though we prefer not to use this method.
- All kids are placed on coccidia prevention starting at 1 week of age (CalfPro) and offered a grower feed/minerals. We encourage all buyers to maintain coccidia prevention for 2-4 weeks after transitioning to their new homes as they tend to be most susceptible after stressful situations such as weaning, transferring farms etc.
- Kids/adults designated as "Pet Quality" will not be accompanied by ADGA registration papers or tattoo's and will not be eligible for registration at any point- No exceptions.
Payment
- All animals remain the property of Salt River Run until they are picked up and formally removed from our care, with all necessary paperwork signed.
- Reservation deposits are required before an animal is placed on our reserve list, with final payments expected on the day of pickup unless otherwise arranged.
- We will not hold or mark a goat as "sale pending" until we have received a non-refundable deposit. Reservation amounts are found on our Reservations page.
- Payments are accepted via Zelle, PayPal, Venmo or cash payment if meeting in person. For PayPal/Venmo transactions, an additional 4% fee will be applied, unless using the "friends/family" option to avoid this charge.
- We do NOT accept checks or card payments
- Payment must be made in either physical cash or through agreed payment method. Deposits, including partial payments, are refundable only if the seller fails to provide the animal. Buyers will not be refunded if the buyer cancels the agreement without the seller's consent, fails to make the final payment as agreed, payment fails to clear the seller's bank or PayPal/Venmo, or if the buyer fails to accept the transfer of livestock by the pickup date unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
Boarding
Once a buyer agrees to purchase a goat or goats, a mutually agreed-upon pickup or transport date will be arranged. If the agreed-upon date passes and the goat(s) remain in our care, a boarding fee will be imposed starting from the following week at a rate of $5.00 per day. The fee increases to $10 per day after the second week. After this period, all funds paid will be forfeited by the purchaser, and the goat(s) will either be retained or offered to another buyer.
genetic faults
In the event that a genetic issue is identified, a replacement will be provided in the form of another kid, either from the current year's or the following year's breeding season. Examples of genetic issues include, but are not limited to, extra teats, sterility, or wry face.
Monetary refunds will not be issued; however, replacements will be made upon presentation of medical evidence. Original registration papers for the affected animal must be submitted before any replacement is granted.
It is important to note that we cannot guarantee the height of animals, and therefore, no replacement will be provided if an animal exceeds the specified height limit during its lifetime.
